　　Congratulations to second year computer science students Bryan Chiang and Daniel Ciao and computer science and engineering students Lucas Xia and Max Wu for being awarded $25,000 at the Call for Code 2019 Global Challenge for their second runner-up application submission, Rove. Rove is an app designed to cut down on emergency responders’ response time by analyzing their information, using satellite imagery technology and providing accessible routes for the responders. Rove was also given continued open-source project support to allow other developers to help out with the solution.  

　　祝賀加州大學洛杉磯分校計算機科學二年級學生Bryan Chiang和Daniel Ciao以及計算機科學與工程系學生Lucas Xia和Max Wu在2019年代碼征集全球挑戰賽（Call for Code 2019 Global Challenge）上獲得25000美元為他們提交的亞軍申請-Rove。Rove是一款應用程序，旨在通過分析應急響應者的信息、利用衛星圖像技術并為響應者提供可訪問的路線來縮短應急響應者的響應時間。Rove還得到了持續的開源項目支持，以允許其他開發人員幫助解決方案。

　　CS Assistant Professors Cho-Jui Hsieh and Kai-Wei Chang have been awarded the 2019 Facebook Research Award on Computationally Efficient NLP. The program focused on making NLP models more efficient both at training and testing time to enable production applications of such models at scale and potentially make them directly runnable on mobile devices without losing the quality of models run on servers.
